This course is for anyone who wants to build a real-world, job-ready DevOps skillset from the ground up. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who’s been in IT or software and wants to move into DevOps, this 9-week program will give you the foundations, the tools, and the confidence to work like an actual DevOps/Cloud/SRE engineer.

Each week includes a live session, hands-on demos, take-home tasks, and real projects. We’ll build layer by layer, starting with Git and Linux, then moving through Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, observability, and ending with a full end-to-end project that puts everything together.

Week 1 – Git & GitHub for DevOps

We start by learning the most important tool every DevOps engineer uses daily: Git.

What version control is and why it matters
Git commands: init, add, commit, push, pull, merge, branches, conflict resolution
How GitHub works: repositories, forks, pull requests, collaboration
Branching strategies (feature branches, main vs develop, etc.)
Best practices for writing good commit messages

Week 2 – Linux Essentials

Linux powers most cloud and DevOps systems. You’ll learn how to use the terminal and automate common tasks.

Understanding file systems, permissions, users, and processes
Useful Linux commands for DevOps: ps, top, grep, awk, sed, chmod, etc.
Writing and running bash scripts
Scheduling tasks with cron
Using SSH to connect to remote servers
Installing and configuring software on Linux

Week 3 – Docker Fundamentals

Containers are the building blocks of modern infrastructure. Learn how Docker works and how to use it.

What containers are and how they differ from virtual machines
Docker architecture: images, containers, layers, registries
Writing Dockerfiles from scratch
Building and running containers locally
Using Docker Compose for multi-container setups
Understanding volumes and networking basics in Docker

Week 4 – Docker in Practice + Image Management

Take your Docker knowledge to the next level with real-world practices.

Best practices for Dockerfile optimization
Multi-stage builds and smaller image sizes
Managing and pushing images to Docker Hub
Setting up a private registry
Understanding container security and cleanup
Lifecycle of containers in a production-like setup

Week 5 – Kubernetes Basics

Learn how to run, manage, and scale containers using Kubernetes.

Kubernetes architecture: nodes, clusters, kubelet, API server, etc.
Understanding Pods, ReplicaSets, Deployments, and Services
Writing Kubernetes manifests (YAML)
Managing applications using kubectl
Using ConfigMaps and Secrets
Exposing applications inside and outside the cluster

Week 6 – Advanced Kubernetes + Helm

We go deeper into real production features and tools used by teams managing Kubernetes.

StatefulSets, CronJobs, and DaemonSets
Readiness and liveness probes
Auto-scaling pods
Resource requests and limits
Helm: templating Kubernetes manifests
Installing and using Helm charts

Week 7 – CI/CD Pipelines

You’ll learn how automation brings software from code to production reliably.

What is CI/CD? What problems does it solve?
Building pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
Automating build, test, and deploy steps
Managing secrets and environment variables in pipelines
Notification and rollback mechanisms

Week 8 – Infrastructure as Code with Terraform

Provision infrastructure using code rather than manually clicking in the cloud.

Terraform basics: providers, resources, variables, outputs
Writing and organizing Terraform code
Creating cloud infrastructure (VMs, storage, networking)
Terraform state, backends, and remote storage
Using modules and best practices

Week 9 – Observability (Monitoring + Logging)

Learn how engineers observe systems in production and respond to problems.

The pillars of observability: metrics, logs, traces
Introduction to Prometheus and Grafana
Collecting metrics from Kubernetes apps
Fluentd/Fluent Bit for log aggregation
Setting up alerts and dashboards

Bonus Week – Capstone Project & Final Review

Bring everything together with a real-world project.

You’ll build, deploy, and monitor a complete microservice-based application from scratch. This includes Git versioning, containerization, Kubernetes deployment, CI/CD pipeline, Terraform provisioning, and observability setup.

We’ll review your work together, go over lessons learned, and have an open discussion about your next steps—whether it’s certification, landing a job, or building a portfolio.
